33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 18, 2012

Mark 13:24-32: As we near the end of the liturgical year, today's gospel talks about the second coming of Jesus. Jesus, the teacher, used images from the sky(comets, meteors, eclipse) to strengthen his disciples' faith in God's care. Mark's Gospel reminds us that in any darkness Jesus will always come in glory.

Why Catholics believe in Purgatory: the Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a “purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven, which is experienced by those “who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified- a preparation to be in the holy presence of God. We pray for the souls in purgatory so that they may begin their eternal life in heaven.
