Easter Sunday: Resurrection of the Lord
April 8, 2012

John 20:1-19: This Easter Gospel tells us that the first person to learn about what happened to Jesus was Mary Magdalene. Seeing that the stone had been removed from the tomb, she ran to tell Simon Peter and the other disciple, who hurried to the tomb to discover only the cloths that had covered Jesus' body. They then knew that Jesus had risen from the dead.

What do we mean by Lamb of God”?
The Easter, or Paschal , lamb, representing Christ, with the flag of victory, is one of the most significant images of the Easter season. In the gospel of John, Jesus is crucified at the same time the lambs are being slaughtered for the Passover meal. The symbol of Jesus as “the lamb of God” is a powerful image of sacrifice. At Easter we celebrate the whole “paschal mystery'- that Jesus was crucified, died and rose from the dead. - for us Place a white candle with an image of the Paschal lamb in your home throughout this Easter season as a reminder of Christ's great love for us.

My dear people, I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a Happy Easter. May the Risen Lord bless you abundantly and grant you peace. May He give you good health and fulfill your intentions. According to a custom in our Catholic Church, it is good to bless our homes every year, especially during the Easter Season which lasts for 50days after Easter. I am available to visit your homes and to bless them. I would be happy to hear from you.

The Diocese of Antigonish is asking parishioners to help determine its pastoral direction for the next five years. Bishop Dunn says “The recent events that have touched every person in our diocese have led to a great deal of reflection upon the Church's need to bring justice, compassion, healing, hope and new life to the people of God”. It's important that we all have a voice to achieve healing and direction for our diocesan family.
